When enabled by you, we collect precise location information provided by your mobile device, which you may disable through the device settings.

Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies

We and our partners use cookies to collect information about your use of the Services. “Cookies” are small data files assigned to your browser when you visit a Veritooth Site which enable recognition of your browser and collect and store information about your use of the Services, as described above. In addition to cookies, we and our partners use other tracking technologies that collect information about your use of the Services, including mobile identifiers and “web beacons” which are small graphic files (sometimes called “clear GIFs” or “web pixels”) embedded in a web page or email typically used to monitor activity and send relevant information back to a home server (which can belong to the host site, a network advertiser or some other third party).

Our advertising service partners may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect information about your use of the Veritooth Sites, including content you have viewed. These third parties may use this information to help Veritooth deliver advertising on the Veritooth Sites and on other third party websites based on your browsing activity on the Veritooth Sites. Veritooth may further tailor the advertising on the Veritooth Sites and these other third party websites based on additional information to the extent known by Veritooth or these third parties. Two of the third parties that Veritooth works with are Google and Facebook. In addition to using the information it collects performing services for Veritooth, Google may also use such information as described in its privacy policy. Our ad network vendors use technologies to collect information about your activities on the Veritooth Sites and in our flagship Veritooth App to provide you cookie-based targeted advertising on our Veritooth Sites and on third party websites based upon your browsing activity and your interests.

For more information about our how cookies and other tracking technologies are used in connection with the Services, please read our Cookie Policy.

This number cannot be used to identify you personally, and we cannot identify you personally unless you choose to become a registered user of the App. We use this random number in a manner similar to our use of cookies as described in this Privacy Policy and in our Cookie Policy. Unlike cookies, the random number is assigned to your installation of the App itself and not a browser, because the App does not work through your browser. Therefore the random number cannot be removed through settings. If you do not want us to use the random number for the purposes for which we use cookies, please do not use the Apps. Our use of cookies and other tracking technologies on our mobile optimized sites and our Veritooth App are similar to our use on our desktop sites. Your choices to reject cookies, use the Network Advertising Initiative and the opt-out mechanism described below in the section “Your Choices and Rights”.

Veritooth makes an effort to make it obvious to you when you leave a Veritooth Site and enter a Third Party Website, either by requiring you to click on a link or by notifying you on the Veritooth Site before you visit the third party site. The Veritooth website may use “cookies” and other technologies to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize Veritooth pages, or register with Veritooth site or services, a cookie helps Veritooth to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, and so on. When you return to the same Veritooth website, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the Veritooth features that you customized.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the Veritooth services or websites you visit.

Veritooth makes efforts to secure your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other websites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.

Despite Veritooth’s efforts to protect your personal information, there is always some risk that an unauthorized third party may find a way around our security systems or that transmissions of your information over the Internet may be intercepted.

We will retain your personal information as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you Services. At any time you can remove your personal information or instruct us to remove it, but you should be aware that it is not technologically possible to remove each and every record of the information you have provided to Veritooth from our servers. See “Your Choices and Rights” below for more information on how you can update or remove your personal information. We will also retain your personal information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

Veritooth does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen (13). Veritooth’s Terms of Service require that all users be fourteen (14) years of age or older. If you are under the age of thirteen, you must ask your parent or guardian for permission to use this website.

Our Privacy Policy applies to all of the services offered by Veritooth but excludes services that have a separate privacy policy without an incorporation of this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy does not apply to services offered by other companies or individuals including products or sites that may be displayed to you in on Veritooth or other sites linked from our services. Our Privacy Policy does not cover the information or other companies and organizations who advertise our services, and who may use cookies or other technologies to serve and offer relevant advertising.

Veritooth is operated in the United States. Information that we collect is, to the best of our knowledge, controlled and processed in the United States. Veritooth does not actively target citizens of the countries applicable to GDPR though people may have used Veritooth to complain about perceived wrongdoings of people, and/or in connection with businesses, located in one or more the GDPR countries. Veritooth, through display on Veritooth, permanently archives this data as a matter of public interest, free expression, historical research and the exercise of and defense of any potential legal claims.

Veritooth is engaging in geo-blocking efforts due to GDPR and we no longer allow citizens of countries that are applicable to GDPR to use our website. If any citizen of a country that is bound by GDPR is using this site, they are doing so without our consent and assume the risks, including accepting our data collection practices by doing so without any liability to Veritooth. In other words, we aren’t going to be liable because you choose to break the rules.

The United States has not sought nor received a finding of “adequacy” from the European Union under Article 45 of the GDPR. Any data that we are collecting and/or processing we deem to be done with your consent; to perform a contract with you; or to fulfill a compelling legitimate interest of Veritooth and/or to the public that we do not believe outweigh your rights and freedoms. Veritooth tries to apply suitable safeguards to protect the privacy and security of your personal data and to use it only consistent with your relationship with Veritooth through the use of the Veritooth website, it’s mission, and the practices as described in the Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy.

Based upon the foregoing, and while we take reasonable measures under US law to protect the data, Veritooth’s position is that it not subject to GDPR.

Your personal data, and data provided by you about others, is stored by Veritooth on its servers and/or on the servers of third-party vendors that Veritooth engages, located in the United States. Veritooth retains the data permanently (although there is a possibility that some data maybe lost due to technological transitions or other accidental errors). This is due to Veritooth’s need to preserve historical evidence in the event of litigation, to provide historical data where relevant, including the consumer facing information, to provide information that is of legitimate interest to the public just as court records are and to promote free expression. If you do not consent to this permanent storage of such information, do not use Veritooth.
